I was born into creativity; into a family-owned sign business started by my grandfather in 1936. Since child labor laws don't really cover nepotism, my father made certain that, at even a tender age, I had the opportunity to wear many hats. Marketing always seemed to fit the most bestest. (It's not a real word, but it should be.)
Since college, I've been a graphic designer, videographer, photographer, website developer, project manager, sales trainer, marketing manager, and creative consultant. In 2009, I started street-walking my mixed media services, and have loved every minute.
Helping people grow their business has introduced me to gaggles of new and exciting experiences. I feel so blessed and fulfilled when someone succeeds with something I helped create. It's like a mocha java chip frappuccino drizzled in fudge. Ooh...with a heavy slice of warm pumpkin bread!
Although not every project is a blank canvas, I love crafting something from nothing. Some of my favorite projects have included creating full marketing strategies and rollout plans. I enjoy crafting proposals, storyboards, videos, photos, websites, email campaigns, infographics, print collateral, and signage. Yeah, I really love what I do, and do what I love.
There is nothing that I duck and run from. Every obstacle has a solution. Within every challenge is a lesson worth learning. Where others stop at “can’t”, I accelerate with, “How can we make this happen?” and, “What do we need to get this done?”
My glass is more than half-full; if not annoyingly brimming. It is this attitude that has driven me to continually learn. It's this way of thinking that focusses on growth and development.
Hiring a third party resource is a worderful way to increase your teams capabilities without adding the overhead of another employee. You still reach your project goals, and everyone in your office gets to focus on what they do best.
My contribution varies from project to project. Sometimes, I find myself firing photon torpedoes from the Captain's chair; at other times I'm shoulder-to-shoulder with Scotty in Engineering fixing warp cores.
Having facilitated many large projects over the past 20 years, I've learned the importance of being able to choreograph the talents of in-house departments with the services of outside vendors. Team collaboration is the key to all great creativity.
